Justin Matthew Adkins, 40, the Marion Pedophile, received a sentence of 192 months (16 years) in prison, along with a lifetime of supervised release and a requirement to register as a sex offender upon his release, as stated by the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).

Court records indicate that Justin Matthew Adkins was previously convicted of second-degree exploitation of a juvenile in Buncombe County and had completed a prison sentence. He was discharged from state custody in April 2023 and is required to stay under post-release monitoring until 2028.

In November 2023, law enforcement from the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections, the MCSO, and the U.S. Marshals Service executed a probation search. Justin Matthew Adkins was found to possess child sexual abuse material on computer devices.

A computer forensic expert from Homeland Security Investigations examined Justin Matthew Adkins’s devices, revealing thousands of photographs and videos of child sexual abuse material portraying the exploitation of prepubescent children, as reported by MCSO. The investigation revealed that Justin Matthew Adkins disseminated child sexual abuse material online.

Justin Matthew Adkins entered a guilty plea for the distribution of child pornography on December 18, 2024.

Justin Matthew Adkins is presently in federal custody and will be relocated to a federal facility upon assignment.
