Police have a CCTV image of a potential witness involving Ugbo Onyeka, the Liverpool Hatch Bar Rapist, as part of an ongoing investigation into a rape by a British man named Ugbo Onyeka in Liverpool City Centre.

At around 1am on Saturday, 17 June 2022, Merseyside Police received a report of a woman being raped by Ugbo Onyeka inside toilets at Hatch Bar, Slater Street.

Ugbo Onyeka, 33, was arrested the following day, charged with rape and remains in custody awaiting trial. As part of the investigation, detectives are still looking to identify the man pictured.

Detective Sergeant Rebecca Igglesden said, “This investigation is ongoing and a man, Ugbo Onyeka, is awaiting trial, with a date to be confirmed.

“As such, we have been making extensive enquiries throughout, to trace all possible witnesses of Ugbo Onyeka raping the vulnerable woman. As a result, we now believe that these witnesses may include the man being circulated today.

“If you recognise him, please let us know. I’d like to emphasise again that he is potentially a witness to the incident and may have information to assist put Ugbo Onyeka where he belongs.”
