Aaron Gaughan Barry Rapist

Aaron Gaughan, the Barry Rapist, made his initial appearance at Cardiff Magistrates Court on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, when he entered a plea of not guilty to all allegations.

Aaron Gaughan was in a four-year relationship with the victim, during which he repeatedly raped her and confined her within her flat, restricting her freedom of movement. Aaron Gaughan also inflicted injuries on her face.

The assault persisted as Aaron Gaughan infiltrated her accounts, appropriated keys to her apartment, and vandalised her windows and vehicle. He persisted in stalking and harassing her following the conclusion of the relationship.

After an eight-day trial at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court in May 2025, Aaron Gaughan was convicted of three charges of rape, engaging in controlling/coercive behaviour, two acts of assault, and stalking that caused considerable alarm and distress.

He admitted guilt to operating a car while disqualified and driving without insurance coverage.

On Monday, July 14, 2025, at Cardiff Crown Court, Aaron Gaughan was sentenced to 20 years, comprising 15 years of custody and a five-year enhanced term for dangerousness.

An indefinite restraining order has been enforced on him to safeguard his victim.
