Adam Betteridge asserted that he inadvertently clicked a link provided to his mobile device; however, investigators also discovered deleted searches using terms such as pedo, youngest, and hairless.
However, at the sentencing in Inverness, Sheriff Gary Aitken seemed to have minimal empathy for the paedophile’s mental health challenges.
A prior hearing revealed that the police searched the 32-year-old’s residence on South Guildry Street, Elgin, and confiscated his phone.
Sheriff Aitken informed Adam Betteridge, of Main Street, Elgin, that his offence was “far from trivial” and ought not to be seen as victimless.
Adam Betteridge was assigned a Community Payback Order, which includes three years of social work monitoring and a mandate to complete the Moray sex offenders program.
He mandated Adam Betteridge to complete 160 hours of community service without compensation and registered him on the sex offenders list for a duration of three years.
