A sex offender, Alan Dobson, egregiously violated a restricted order by maintaining frequent contact with girls under the age of 16.
Alan Dobson, 39, was sentenced to 16 months in prison after Durham Crown Court determined that he wholly disregarded the Sexual Offences Prevention Order within four months of its issuance.
Alan Dobson had prior convictions for engaging in sexual acts with kids under 16 while employed at a kebab business in 1997, and for sexual contact with a girl under 16, for which he was sentenced to a suspended prison term in 2005.
Adrian Dent, for the prosecution, stated that the order was requested by the police and enacted by North Durham magistrates in April due to concerns regarding his conduct.
It prohibited him from engaging in unsupervised interactions with any minor under the age of 16.
However, the court was informed that during his employment as a pizza delivery driver, he transported ladies in his vehicle while making deliveries in August.
Mr. Dent stated that he purchased alcoholic beverages for the females, transported them to a McDonald’s takeaway, and to isolated woods, where he made inappropriate remarks to them.
He permitted one of them to drive his car during a delivery, and upon realising that the authorities were investigating his actions, he instructed the females to provide him with an alibi.
Alan Dobson, residing on Melville Street, Chester-le-Street, confessed to eight violations of a Sexual Offences Prevention Order and one count of sexual assault.
Lorraine Mustard, in mitigation, said the court: The violations may not be the gravest, nevertheless he acknowledges that transporting these girls in his vehicle while delivering pizzas is concerning.
Miss Mustard stated that the shop owner was cognisant of Dobson’s prior convictions at the time of his employment.
In sentencing him, Judge Esmond Faulks stated to Alan Dobson: You transported these girls in your vehicle, provided them with wine, made lewd comments, and evidently, this constituted grooming with the intention of engaging in sexual behaviour.
You entirely disregarded the directive. These constituted egregious violations.
The order was renewed indefinitely, and Alan Dobson was disqualified from working with minors and is required to register as a sex offender for the next ten years.
