A sex offender, Andrew Bray Sutton-in-Ashfield Paedophile, has been reincarcerated after being apprehended for transmitting explicit messages to an individual he believed to be a 13-year-old girl.

In actuality, 52-year-old Andrew Bray was conversing with a member of an internet activist organisation, who subsequently notified the police.

Upon his arrest at his residence in Sutton-in-Ashfield on 22 December of the previous year, Andrew Bray accurately anticipated that he would “return to prison” as a consequence.

In a series of messages on a social media platform, he urged his intended victim to partake in an explicit act.

Notwithstanding his early candour, Andrew Bray provided only non-committal responses to all enquiries during his police interrogation.

Subsequently, he admitted guilt to attempting to provoke a girl into sexual conduct.

He also admitted to breaching a sexual harm prevention order imposed after a previous offence to prevent him harming children online.

Andrew Bray, formerly of Willowbridge Lane, Sutton-in-Ashfield, appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday 31 March and was jailed for a total of eight years.

Detective Constable Sophie Lee, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Men like Andrew Bray are an active danger to children, who they seek to manipulate and corrupt for their own sexual gratification.

“Happily, on this occasion no real child was harmed. We know, however, but those young children who are enticed by online predators like Bray can suffer lasting psychological harm as a result.

“I am pleased he has now been returned to jail where he can pose no further harm to children.”
