Two British men, Andy Nzita Iwela and Muketar Ahmed, were found guilty of raping a young lady. The event occurred in March 2023 when the victim, in her twenties, saw a man in Middlesbrough town centre who then invited her to his residence for a gathering.
The man ultimately requested that all attendees depart the gathering, save for the victim; nevertheless, another male then arrived at the premises, and both proceeded to assault the woman sexually.
Andy Nzita Iwela, 34, of Bush Street, Middlesbrough, and Muketar Ahmed, 33, of Staindale Road, Thornaby, were convicted on Thursday, March 20, of two counts of rape, attempted rape, and sexual assault following an investigation by Middlesbrough CID.
Andy Nzita Iwela and Muketar Ahmed attended Teesside Crown Court on Thursday, 20 March, for sentencing.
Andy Nzita Iwela received a sentence of 13 years, while Muketar Ahmed was sentenced to 11 years in prison. The duo will each serve three years under an extended licence.
Detective Sergeant Marie Appleby stated: “Andy Nzita Iwela and Muketar Ahmed exhibited predatory behaviour that culminated in the rape of a young woman, leaving her traumatised by the incident.”
“Andy Nzita Iwela and Muketar Ahmed pose a threat to women, and I am gratified that they will now endure an extended incarceration.” I trust this offers some solace to the victim in this case, enabling her to begin the process of moving on from this traumatic experience.
