Angus MacLeod Kilmarnock Paedophile who confessed to “engaging in sexual fantasies” involving young girls has been informed that he is likely to be incarcerated.
Angus MacLeod admitted his guilt to three charges related to child sexual offences before Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Tuesday, August 19th.
Angus MacLeod, aged 58, confessed to engaging in indecent communication with an individual whom he believed to be a 13-year-old girl. This communication took place between March 22 and March 30 of the previous year, originating from his residence at Grouse Place in Kilmarnock and other locations.
In addition, he admitted to trying to arrange a meeting with the same individual to participate in illegal sexual behaviour with them, either during or after the meeting, between March 22-31 of the previous year.
Angus MacLeod pleaded guilty to possessing explicit images or simulated images of minors from March 14-31, 2023.
Fiscal depute Chris Munro told the court that Angus MacLeod’s conduct was discovered due to an investigation conducted by Police Scotland. During this investigation, an officer assumed the identity of a 13-year-old girl named Hannah King on the internet.
The alias employed in this sting is identical to the one used in a previous court case involving a man from Dalry who faced similar accusations. These two operations occurred within a few weeks of each other.
The investigation into Angus MacLeod commenced on March 22 of the previous year, when a law enforcement investigator created the ‘Hannah King’ character on a confidential internet chat platform.
On that day, the profile established a connection with another profile named ‘fun and games’, which was subsequently discovered to be run by the 58-year-old individual.
Angus MacLeod freely participated in a private conversation with a profile portrayed as a 13-year-old girl, but his profile indicated he was 56.
The Kilmarnock man initiated conversations by enquiring about preferences for older individuals and the other person’s location in Glasgow.
In addition, he requested the teenager’s username on the social media network Snapchat, and subsequently, the conversation shifted to that platform.
Subsequently, the conversations became more explicit as Angus MacLeod enquired about the profile’s attire beneath her leggings and commented on his arousal in response to her answer. He also asked whether she would assist him in this matter.
In addition, he asked further inappropriate questions about ‘Hannah’, including comments about her bra size and her past sexual encounters.
Additionally, there were discussions regarding the possibility of the couple meeting, during which the 58-year-old individual enquired about the potential course of action if they were to meet.
Angus MacLeodresponded by making a sexual comment about kissing her lips.
Additional communications presented to the court comprised casual conversations and explanations of harmless photographs that Angus MacLeod, currently employed as a sales assistant, sent, depicting himself.
Subsequent deliberations ensued over the rendezvous with the chat profile, resulting in the organisation of a meeting at Broadwood Stadium in Cumbernauld, as previously indicated by the chat profile.
Over the next few days, the 58-year-old individual sent pictures of the stadium and the adjacent retail park to the profile. They wanted to verify the location before their meeting on March 31.
Several conversations occurred before this date, including one in which the profile indicated they were attending school.
Angus MacLeod enquired, “What activity would you prefer to engage in?” Regarding her attire for their meeting, she was contemplating.
After being informed that she would wear leggings, he complimented her by saying she would “look great” in them.
The man from Kilmarnock enquired about the type of undergarments she would be wearing that day and expressed admiration by saying, “damn, that’s sexy,” in response to her answer.
After these discussions, law enforcement managed to track down the IP address associated with the Snapchat account at Angus MacLeod’s residence. Subsequently, a search warrant was acquired for that location.
On March 31, officers executed the warrant and positively identified Angus MacLeod based on photographs received from the profile of ‘Hannah’.
During the search, several things were confiscated: precisely two mobile phones, a laptop, and a packet of ‘thongs’.
On the subsequent day, Angus MacLeod underwent a police interrogation and responded to a series of enquiries.
He confessed to being accountable for engaging in sexual conversations. He claimed that he had bought the thongs to present to ‘Hannah’ during their encounter, expecting to receive her undergarments in exchange.
In addition, he admitted to engaging in sexual fantasies involving underage females and having a particular attraction to knickers.
Subsequently, his mobile phones underwent analysis, revealing that the conversations between him and the law enforcement-operated profile had been successfully retrieved from one of the devices.
The second device belonging to Angus MacLeod was discovered to contain six explicit photographs of minors.
The court was informed that the photos represented girls between the ages of 10 and 13 engaging in sexual conduct.
Solicitor Gillian Swanney requested a deferral of the sentencing to allow for the preparation of background reports. In addition, she asked that Angus MacLeod’s bail be extended until that particular date.
Sheriff Colin Bisset consented to postpone the pronouncement of a sentence but cautioned the Kilmarnock individual that incarceration is a distinct possibility.
The speaker emphasised that the issues at hand are highly grave and that it is likely that the recipient would be sentenced to imprisonment.
Meanwhile, Angus MacLeod was included in the sex offenders registry.
The duration for which he will be placed on the register will be established during his upcoming court appearance.
