A South Wales Police officer, Paedophile Anthony French, participated in inappropriate internet discussions with an individual he believed to be a minor.
The individual he conversed with was an undercover Tarian police officer, resulting in the arrest of PC Anthony French.
A file of evidence was presented to the Crown Prosecution Service, which opted not to initiate any criminal proceedings.
The collaborative inquiry conducted by Tarian and the South Wales Police Anti-Corruption Unit led to the officer undergoing an expedited misconduct tribunal presided over by Chief Constable Jeremy Vaughan.
PC Anthony French resigned before the tribunal that examined claims of his violation of the specified norms of professional conduct:
Criterion 1: Honesty and Integrity
Police officers exhibit honesty, uphold integrity, and refrain from compromising or abusing their authority.
Standard 9: Disreputable Behaviour.
Anthony French will be added to the College of Policing prohibited list to prevent his reinstatement in law enforcement.
