A serial sexual assailant who targeted four frightened women has been incarcerated. Anthony Gibson, a previously convicted rapist, has been sentenced to 13 years of incarceration.
The 37-year-old offender was sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow on Monday, November 11.
The reprehensible individual was incarcerated for grave sexual offences, acts of aggression, and abusive conduct.
Anthony Gibson was previously convicted of 10 crimes related to a 17-year period of abuse from 2006 to 2023.
The inventory of physical and sexual violence encompassed rape, assault, and stalking.
One woman was pushed onto a road causing her to fall into the path of oncoming traffic.
The creep, Anthony Gibson, came to the attention of police in November 2020 when it was discovered he had abused two women.
Following initial investigations, it was apparent the violent man had subjected other women to his abusive behaviour.
Officers revealed his offences took place in several areas across Scotland including South Lanarkshire.
As a result of the enquiries, Anthony Gibson was nicked and charged in connection with sexual assaults, violence, and abusive and controlling behaviour.
At Anthony Gibson’s sentencing on Monday, Judge David Young KC remarked on the ‘severe psychological harm’ suffered by the women.
He said he had considered making Anthony Gibson the subject of an Order for Lifelong Restriction, but had decided against it.
The judge said: “A significant sentence nonetheless has to be imposed as well as a period of supervision on licence.”
As well as the 13-year jail term, Anthony Gibson will be monitored for a further six years on his release.
Non-harassment orders banning him from approaching or contacting three of the women for an indefinite period were made.
A similar order against the fourth woman will last for 20 years.
Slamming the sex attacker after his sentencing, Detective Inspector Frank Keegan said Gibson is a ‘prolific offender’.
He said: I can only hope that the women he harmed take some solace in knowing he can no longer inflict his violent and abusive behaviour on them or any other women.
“It is incredibly difficult for anyone to stand up and confront an abuser and I would like to thank the women for their strength and resilience in speaking with us.
“I would encourage anyone who has been or is being subjected to violence and abuse to report it to us.”
