A child rapist, Anthony Wilcock, the Newton-le-Willows Paedophile, has been jailed for 24 years for subjecting two young girls to years of sexual abuse in Warrington.

Anthony Wilcock, residing on Harvey Avenue in Newton-le-Willows, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday, 9 May, when he received a jail term. He will additionally be required to spend one additional year on an extended licence.

The 44-year-old, Anthony Wilcock, had previously denied three charges of sexual assault by penetration and eight charges of rape but was convicted after a trial.

The court was informed that Anthony Wilcock had perpetrated abuse against the victims for several years in the Warrington region. One child was subjected to abuse between the ages of nine and fifteen, while the second girl experienced abuse between the ages of twelve and fourteen.

The incidents were reported in April 2023, and the victims courageously recounted their experiences. Subsequent to enquiries, Anthony Wilcock was apprehended. He was subsequently accused with various offences in May 2024.

In addition to his 24-year sentence, Anthony Wilcock was mandated to register as a lifelong sex offender and is subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, along with restraining restrictions to safeguard the victims involved in this case.

DC Lauren Cunliffe said:

“Firstly, I would like to commend the bravery of the victims in this case for speaking about what happened to them.

“No-one should have to go through what they have been through, and I hope the conclusion of this court process will help to bring them some sense of closure. Although nothing will make them forget what this despicable man did, their evidence and courage has meant he is now behind bars for a considerable length of time, where he can’t do this to anyone else.

“Anthony Wilcock is clearly a sexual predator, taking advantage of innocent young girls for his own twisted gratification.

“The fact that he committed such dreadful crimes over a large number of years shows that he had absolutely no regard for how his crimes would impact the victims.

“Thankfully, the jury saw through his lies, and he now has many years in custody to contemplate his actions.

“I would urge anyone who has been a victim of a sexual offence to report it to police via our website or by calling 101.”
