In Oxfordshire, a Banbury Grooming Gang was perpetrating abuse on more young females. A group of six paedophile males enticed vulnerable victims—girls aged 13 to 16—through social media and targeted underage gatherings before subjecting them to sexual abuse.
A victim testified at Oxford Crown Court in 2015 that the gatherings served as a venue where girls were present and boys selected their targets.
The abuse occurred from 2009 to 2014, with the group facing legal proceedings in 2015.
The Banbury Grooming Gang was convicted of multiple sexual charges, including rape, sexual assault, and engaging in sexual activities with a minor.
Ahmed Hassan-Sule, Mohamed Saleh, Said Saleh, Takudzwa Hova, Kagiso Manase, and Zsolt Szalontai were incarcerated on April 20, 2015.
The guys, aged 18 to 26, received sentences of three to nine years, indicating that most are likely no longer incarcerated.
Recently, Banbury was subjected to another grooming gang’s targeting.
In the early 2000s, schoolgirls were inundated with alcohol, narcotics, and money.
Samuel Osei-Bempong’s victim, who became pregnant after being attacked by the leader of the gang, said she felt as ‘just a bit of meat to the men’.
Finally being brought to justice on October 6 2023, the now father-of-three was handed 10 years in jail after being convicted of two counts of rape, and cleared of molesting another girl.
His co-defendant Bashiru Umar was arrested after flying from his native Nigeria to New York and was jailed for three years after being found guilty of indecently assaulting a third victim.
