The Manassas Rapist, Benjamin Alex Dinarte, listed on Virginia’s sex offender register for a comparable offence in 2018 is charged with entering an assisted living facility in the Manassas area on June 20 and sexually assaulting an 85-year-old resident.
Benjamin Alex Dinarte, 32, of Manassas, purportedly accessed the premises at 9852 Fairmont Ave. at 6:50 a.m. via an unprotected rear entrance and entered the chamber of an 85-year-old woman, as stated by Prince William County police Master Officer Renee Carr in a news release.
He is charged with sexually assaulting the victim before colleagues intervened and restrained him until the police arrived, Carr stated.
The victim received treatment at a local hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.
Subsequent to the investigation, law enforcement accused Benjamin Alex Dinarte, residing in the 10000 block of Tasker Drive in Manassas, with rape, abduction, object sexual penetration, and burglary, according to Carr.
He was detained without bail at the Prince William-Manassas regional jail, awaiting a court hearing.
Benjamin Alex Dinarte has been listed on Virginia’s sex offender registry following his 2018 conviction for sexually abusing a woman inside a store on Sudley Road.
Benjamin Alex Dinarte was convicted of sexual battery for the assault that occurred on April 16, 2018, at the Le Tache Couples Boutique located at 10346 Portsmouth Road. The woman said to the police that he bit her, improperly touched her, and attempted to lift her skirt before fleeing the scene upon her call to law enforcement.
Detectives identified Benjamin Alex Dinarte through public tips following the dissemination of photographs from the store’s security footage, according to police reports at that time.
Benjamin Alex Dinarte received a 12-month prison sentence and supervised probation for the offence, as per online court documents.
In September 2017, Benjamin Alex Dinarte was indicted for forcible abduction and sexual battery in Prince William County. Information on the case was not readily accessible; however, court documents indicate that he received a 12-month jail sentence, with 10 months suspended for the battery offence. The abduction charge was acquitted.
