A ‘dangerous’ individual, Benjamin Vivian-Hucker Dursley Paedophile, who raped a teenage girl and sexually abused a young lady has been sentenced to over 13 years in prison.
Benjamin Vivian-Hucker, from Dursley in Gloucestershire, was convicted of 11 offences in September of the previous year.
The court was informed that he encountered his victims online and that the assaults occurred in Bristol and Bath.
A 22-year-old received a 13-and-a-half-year prison sentence at Bristol Crown Court on Friday, February 7.
During the sentencing, Judge Cullum characterised Benjamin Vivian-Hucker as a “dangerous offender” who “poses a threat to young girls and women” and is at risk of re-offending.
The two victims endure “profound damage” due to Benjamin Vivian-Hucker’s offences.
“Guilt consumed me,” said one of the victims. “I felt like I had to keep the pain hidden from everyone around me – those I loved; those who were closest to me. I couldn’t let them see how much I was suffering. Even now I feel like I can’t show them that this continues to haunt me. Some days I manage, other days I’m drowning.”
“It took me over a year to process everything. For that first year I lived in denial. I even blamed myself over and over… Once I finally allowed myself to face the reality of the trauma, the flashbacks began. It was then that I started to believe everyone was a threat.”
“I hope that one day he realises the profound damage he has caused. My life changed forever because of him, and it will never return to what it was.”
The other victim detailed the psychological impact on her life: “At the beginning of this process I couldn’t leave the house due to frequent panic attacks which often made me unable to get to work as I was too emotional to drive.
“This assault has also triggered me to have flashbacks, which has forced me to seek therapy in order to work through them and move forward.”
DS Kate Hughes, lead investigator for Avon and Somerset Police, has praised the victims’ bravery in coming forward: “They have shown immense courage, in both reporting Benjamin Vivian-Hucker’s crimes and also throughout the judicial process which I know has been incredibly difficult.
“I am delighted for them that they have been able to see justice served against a man who showed such a blatant disregard for the wellbeing and safety of women and girls.
“Their bravery has played a crucial role in making sure he is held accountable for his crimes and making sure a dangerous man is taken off our streets.”
