The Rapist, Brandon Smith (14/02/2000) of Larch Road, Denton, was convicted of two charges of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and one act of assault by penetration.
Brandon Smith received a sentence of 12 and a half years at Bolton Crown Court today (Wednesday, 30 April 2025) for the rape and sexual assault of a woman in July 2024. Brandon Smith will subsequently serve three years under an extended licence.
On Friday, July 5, 2024, Brandon Smith initiated his assault on an unfamiliar woman, seizing her and threatening to stab her if she said a sound.
Brandon Smith thereafter pulled her along a pathway off King Street and Pitt Street in Hyde before executing a prolonged sexual assault.
Brandon Smith informed the victim that he had been observing her for six months, and following the assault, he issued threats to kill her family if she disclosed any information.
Subsequent to an investigation, Brandon Smith was apprehended on Sunday, July 7, 2024. Following a trial at Bolton Crown Court, he was convicted on all five charges on Wednesday, 8 January 2025.
Detective Constable Kim Daniel stated: “Firstly, I must express gratitude to the victim for their strength and courage in coming forward, enabling us to conduct a thorough investigation of this case.” This enabled us to remove a perilous offender from the streets, preventing further harm to potential victims.
Brandon Smith consistently asserted during the trial that he had never encountered the woman prior, however forensic evidence unequivocally indicated that he had interacted with her. Smith provided no defence during the trial.
“We encourage anyone who has been a victim of sexual assault, or knows someone who has, to come forward and speak to the police. We will listen to you, and we will investigate.”
