An alleged New Jersey Pedophile, Carl Ellis, was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly travelling to a local hotel to engage in sexual activities with an individual he believed to be a 13-year-old boy, as reported by the Rockland County District Attorney’s office.

Carl Ellis, 55, of Maplewood, New Jersey, had been engaging in internet communication with an undercover officer, rather than a minor, according to officials.

Carl Ellis was arraigned before Judge Kevin F. Russo in the Rockland County Court.

Carl Ellis, accused in April, faces one count each of attempted second-degree rape, attempted first-degree dissemination of indecent materials to children, and attempted endangerment of a child’s welfare.

On Thursday, prosecutors disclosed additional information regarding the charges against Carl Ellis.

Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II stated that Ellis engaged in multiple sexually explicit text exchanges with an undercover investigator he encountered online between April 6 and 7.

The investigator, affiliated with the New York State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, impersonated a 13-year-old kid during the communications, as reported by the district attorney’s office.

On April 7, Carl Ellis journeyed to a hotel in Suffern, New York, for sexual engagement with an individual he presumed to be a minor, according to prosecutors. State police apprehended Ellis upon his arrival at the motel.

According to court records, Carl Ellis is scheduled to appear in court on June 4.
