A student West Yorkshire Police officer, Charlie Valente, has been convicted of sexual offences committed on an evening outing.

West Yorkshire Police Constabulary Charlie Valente, 24, was convicted of three counts of sexual touching after a trial at Leeds Crown Court.

The incidents involving two women reportedly occurred in Leeds on November 4 and 5, 2022.

Valente, affiliated with the Learning and Organisational Development department of West Yorkshire Police, is presently suspended from duty. He is scheduled for sentencing on June 3.

Detective Chief Superintendent Tanya Wilkins, head of the Professional Standards Directorate of West Yorkshire Police, stated that the officer exhibited a consistent pattern of behaviour throughout the night, which included sexual touching and causing significant discomfort to his initial victim.

CCTV footage of the incident indicated a possible second victim, who subsequently affirmed that she had not agreed to sexual contact.

Det Ch Supt Wilkins stated that PC Charlie Valente has not acknowledged accountability for his actions and the resulting suffering.

She stated that the agency will initiate a misconduct hearing for Charlie Valente, which would likely result with his disqualification from the profession.
