Montserrat Martorell, aged 65, was discovered deceased in a residence in Londonderry on Saturday, August 24th.
Ciaran Murray, a 28-year-old resident of Gortfoyle Place in the city, has been accused of committing the act of murder against her.
In addition, he is facing charges of rape and intentionally endangering life through arson.
Ciaran Murray appeared before the Londonderry magistrate’s court on Thursday over a video link.
Ciaran Murray acknowledged his comprehension of the accusations after they were presented to him.
