An Edinburgh Paedophile Scottish charity worker, Crawford Robertson, transmitted abhorrent sexual texts to an 11-year-old schoolgirl prior to attempting to arrange a meeting with her.

Crawford Robertson enticed the kid into conversing with him on the Snapchat application by feigning to be a teenager before he commenced sending her inappropriate texts. Robertson, 22, informed the susceptible victim of his desire to kiss her and solicited her participation in sexual activities, subsequently arranging a meeting in Edinburgh in November 2022.

The individual approached the minor at the Wester Hailes retail complex in the capital but fled at the intervention of a family acquaintance of the child’s parents. Crawford Robertson was subsequently apprehended by law enforcement and appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court in October of the previous year, where he entered a guilty plea to two sexual crimes involving the minor.

He confessed to transmitting inappropriate messages to the minor and attempting to arrange a meeting with the goal of engaging in sexual conduct. On Friday, January 10, Robertson appeared in court for sentencing, where Sheriff Matthew Auchincloss opted against incarceration and instead imposed a burdensome community payback order.

The sheriff stated: “You have unequivocally pleaded guilty to two grave charges that will concern the public.” The custodial level has undoubtedly been surpassed; but, I am placing significant emphasis on your lack of prior convictions and your age.

Crawford Robertson, a resident of West Calder, West Lothian, was subjected to a two-year social work monitoring order and mandated to complete 225 hours of community service without compensation. He was additionally registered as a sex offender for two years and subjected to stringent limitations regarding his computer usage and interactions with individuals under the age of 18.

The court was informed that Crawford Robertson is employed remotely on a temporary contract, handling telephone calls from the public to facilitate donations to charitable causes. The victim’s parents attended the sentencing hearing and subsequently characterised Crawford Robertson as “a dangerous predator.”

The child’s mother stated, “I cannot fathom that he was not incarcerated for his actions against my daughter.” Initially, he feigned being a teenager to gain her trust before transmitting repugnant sexual propositions of their potential activities together.

She was but 11 years old at the time—what sort of individual behaves in such manner? We are fortunate that a family friend was present to deter him, or the outcome for her could have been disastrous.

On November 1, 2022, Crawford Robertson admitted to deliberately transmitting sexual communications over Snapchat to an 11-year-old minor to achieve sexual enjoyment by proposing to kiss her and soliciting her participation in sexual activities.

Crawford Robertson further confessed to attempting to rendezvous with the kid for the purpose of engaging in illicit sexual conduct at Wester Hailes Plaza, Edinburgh, on the same date.
