An Orton Goldhay Rapist, Daniel Barbosa, convicted of raping a lady while she was asleep has been sentenced to eight years in prison. Daniel Barbosa, 27, from Hinchcliffe, Orton Goldhay, Peterborough, assaulted the victim in July 2022.
Upon awakening to the situation, she implored Daniel Barbosa to cease his actions.
However, he disregarded the plea and continued the assault, resulting in the victim’s distress.
Subsequent to the incident, the victim retreated to the loo in distress.
She did not report the incident first; but, a month later, she informed the cops of the occurrence.
She also uncovered that Daniel Barbosa had recorded her in a compromising situation without her consent, five months prior to the assault.
After a trial in April, Daniel Barbosa was convicted of two charges: rape and voyeurism.
On Monday, June 23, Daniel Barbosa received an eight-year prison sentence and was prohibited from engaging with minors and vulnerable individuals.
He was additionally mandated to register on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
DC Katie Housham, who investigated, said: “Firstly, I would like to acknowledge the incredible courage of the victim in this case for coming forward and reporting what had happened. It is thanks to her bravery Daniel Barbosa’s predatory behaviour has been exposed.
“Daniel Barbosa forced himself on a woman who was asleep and could not give consent. This sentencing is a reminder that no means no, and we will always strive to bring offenders before the courts.
