Daniel Roberts, a sexual predator and paedophile, has been sentenced at York Crown Court today, Thursday, 20 March 2025. Daniel Roberts, 31, of Jorvik Close, York, was presented in court facing six charges: distributing indecent photos of children, creating indecent images of children, possessing extreme pornographic images, and possessing forbidden images of children.
The defendant has been detained since his last appearance at York Crown Court on Tuesday, 19 November 2024, after pleading guilty to 18 prior identical acts. He was sentenced to four years of incarceration, followed by a four-year probationary period.
Daniel Roberts has been under investigation by North Yorkshire Police since June 2022 and has persistently committed offences while on police bail, court bail, and as a convicted registered sex offender.
Following his arrest officers seized his devices which uncovered Category A, B and C indecent images of children and extreme pornography.
Detective Constable Lucy Wise said: “Daniel Roberts is a dangerous individual with an enduring sexual interest in accessing child abuse images.
“Accessing or downloading indecent images of children is not a victimless crime; perpetrators often don’t stop to think about the lives of young children destroyed by the abuse that takes place behind these images. The children depicted in these sexual abuse images are continuously re-victimised when these are accessed and distributed on the internet. Perpetrators like Roberts, allow this to happen, purely for their own selfish gratification.
“North Yorkshire Police are committed to preventing child sexual abuse and helping victims by bringing offenders to justice.”
