A detective stated that women and children are “safer today” following the incarceration of a “extremely dangerous” sexual predator, Daniel Taylor Southend Paedophile, who was sentenced to 20 years for distributing abusive photographs of one of his victims.

Numerous indecent photos of minors were found on the mobile phone of forty-two-year-old Daniel Taylor after an intricate investigation conducted by Essex Police’s specialised investigators.

Daniel Taylor, residing on Outing Close in Southend, was sentenced to 20 years in prison yesterday after confessing to multiple grave sexual offences.

Law enforcement received allegations of rape and sexual assault about two victims in April 2022. Taylor originally refuted all charges against him and declined to provide the pin for his phone.

Determined officers employed forensic methods to unlock the phone and successfully retrieved its contents after several months of effort.

Daniel Taylor’s reluctance to grant access to his phone was evident, as officers uncovered 81 obscene photographs and videos of youngsters, in addition to evidence connecting him to the rape claims.

Daniel Taylor faced 15 charges, comprising five counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, two counts of indecent assault, three counts of possession of indecent photos of children, one count of creating indecent images of children, and one count of disseminating indecent images of children.

He persistently refuted the allegations; nonetheless, the compelling evidence constrained his options. Upon his appearance at Basildon Crown Court on September 2 of the previous year, he acknowledged 12 offences, with one charge of rape and two charges of indecent assault remaining on file.

At the same court he was sentenced to 20 years in prison yesterday, but will remain on licence for 24 years. He was also placed on the sex offender’s register for life and subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for life.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Jane Grieve said: “Daniel Taylor is an extremely dangerous sexual predator. Women and children are safer today now that he is behind bars.

“This sentence cannot undo the imaginable harm he has inflicted on his victims, but I hope it starts to help them on their road to recovery. I’m in awe of their unwavering strength throughout this extremely difficult investigation.

“Daniel Taylor preyed on vulnerable people. But by videoing some of his offending and storing thousands of indent images he provided crucial evidence and, along with the survivors’ accounts, this secured his conviction.

“And as well as the two survivors of Taylor’s rapes, we should remember that behind every image on his phone is a child suffering.

“Essex Police is dedicated to supporting victims of all sexual violence and we are committed to working with them to secure the strongest evidence possible to ensure we can bring offenders like Taylor before the courts.”
