A Swansea Paedophile in his forties, Daniel Thyer, exposed himself and engaged in self-gratification near a children’s play area in a well-frequented park, according to court testimony. The police subsequently discovered that Daniel Thyer had been “grooming” a young child by providing him with vapes and energy drinks.
Georgia Donohue, representing the prosecution, informed the court that on February 26 of this year, a woman traversing Morriston Park in Swansea observed a guy seated on a grassy embankment adjacent to a children’s play area with his trousers about his ankles.
She stated that the male, Daniel Thyer, was saw holding his mobile phone with one hand while engaging in masturbation with the other. The court was informed that no children were present in the play area at that time; nonetheless, the woman observed two teenage lads cycling in proximity to the defendant.
The barrister stated that the woman was “disgusted” by Daniel Thyer’s conduct and contacted the police. Officers arrived to the park and apprehended the 41-year-old suspect, who claimed he was present to meet someone and stated he had been “adjusting his trousers.”
The court was informed that upon inspecting the defendant’s phone, authorities discovered communication with a minor, during which they exchanged messages on masturbation.
Officers identified and located the child and spoke to him, and the boy disclosed a series of incidents when Daniel Thyer had put his hands down his trousers, pushed his erect penis into him from behind over his clothes, and had touched his bottom. The child also said the defendant had given him vapes, money and energy drinks.
In a victim statement read to the court by the prosecutor, the defendant said he now suffers with sleepless nights and feels “uncomfortable” around grown men, and he said he “keeps himself to himself” at school.
With a one-third discount for his guilty pleas, Daniel Thyer was sentenced to 12 months in prison. Daniel Thyer was also made the subject of a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and will be a registered sex offender for the same length of time.
