Convicted of trying to meet a 12-year-old girl for sex, a builder, Danny Watson Crowborough Paedophile, has been sentenced to eight years overall.
Danny Watson, 37, a builder from Alderbrook Close, Crowborough, was sentenced Friday at Hove Crown Court after being found guilty that day following a trial of arranging to meet a child aged under sixteen following grooming, two counts of possession of cannabis and cocaine, and possession with intent to supply cannabis.
Danny Watson started inappropriate online correspondence with someone he thought to be a 12-year-old girl in August last year, finally making plans to meet her on Brighton Street.
But the man he was in touch with was an adult recording the conference. He also let the cops know, who showed up and arrested Watson.
Danny Watson was already on a suspended sentence; he had been found guilty in October of last year of possession of offensive photos of minors at his residence.
Along with being a registered sex offender for seven years, he had been sentenced to three months in prison, suspended for twelve months.
Now a registered sex offender for life, he was also issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which severely limits his access to computers and minors until further court order.
Danny Watson was also forbidden from employment involving children or young people for a lifetime.
“Danny Watson was already a convicted sex offender less than a year previously but decided to take a chance at further offending,” Detective Constable Steve Smith remarked.
“The sentence indicates that the courts will take repeat offending of this type very seriously.”
