Yet another former detective from Sussex Police CID based in Worthing, David Gamlin, has been charged with misconduct in a public office for allegedly initiating a connection with a vulnerable woman encountered during an inquiry.
David Gamlin, 58, is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday to address allegations of having contacted and engaged in a sexual connection with a lady from June to September 2021, as reported by the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
An IOPC representative stated that it submitted a dossier of evidence about Mr. David Gamlin after concluding its inquiry in August 2022.
Mr. David Gamlin, formerly stationed at Worthing CID, departed from Sussex Police in March 2023.
The IOPC stated that their investigation was initiated by a compulsory referral from Sussex Police.
Sussex Police has been solicited for a statement.

David Gamlin, 58, admitted guilt to a charge of “holder of a public office wilfully neglected to perform duty/wilfully misconducted himself” at Southwark Crown Court on Monday.
David Gamlin was accused of having contacted and participated in a sexual connection with the woman from June to September 2021, as reported by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
The ex-investigator, lacking a permanent residence, is scheduled for sentencing at Southwark Crown Court on 6 October.
The IOPC stated that their inquiry, initiated in August 2022, was prompted by a compulsory referral from Sussex Police.
