An individual, David Milton, the Newton Abbot paedophile, who sexually exploited young girls by coercing them into doing nude dances has been imprisoned for a second time.
David Milton provided the victims with alcoholic beverages and falsely claimed that his sexual contact was a unique form of entertainment while they were visiting his residence in Newton Abbot.
The ex-truck driver is already serving a 16-year prison term for sexually exploiting two additional underage females throughout the 1970s and 1980s. He has now been incarcerated once again for sexually abusing two further victims over a similar timeframe.
One individual was so naive that they only became aware of the wrongness of their actions towards her when she attended sex education classes in secondary school. She informed the police that she would have notified them about David Milton at an earlier time, but she had been given incorrect information that he had passed away in the 1990s.
She submitted a victim’s statement detailing a lifetime of anguish caused by Milton’s acts.
She stated, “There are wounds that remain unhealed.” They continue to be scraped repeatedly, resulting in more anguish and pain.
‘He believed he possessed the entitlement to manipulate us as objects of amusement to fulfil his distorted cravings.’
David Milton, 83 years old, previously residing at Howards Way, Newton Abbot confessed to committing indecent assaults on one girl on four occasions and another girl once. The offences occurred throughout the late 1970s.
Judge David Evans at Exeter Crown Court sentenced him to six years in prison, with a further two years of supervised release. He is already listed on the sex offenders’ registry indefinitely.
The judge accused him of flagrantly misusing his authority and shamelessly taking advantage of the victims’ young age and naivety by subjecting them to the specified acts of assault. They displayed immense bravery by voicing their opinions.
‘I have listened to their statements, which provide a clear understanding of the enduring and highly consequential damage you have inflicted.’ They have endured the consequences throughout their lives, while you have carried on with your life without being impacted.
‘The difference between the two situations is a genuine act of unfairness, and no punishment I impose can reverse that unfairness.’
The judge informed him that the duration of the sentence would have been extended if not for his advanced age, poor health, and the lengthy sentence he is currently serving.
According to Miss Heather Hope, who is handling the prosecution, two more victims came forward in 2021. One individual reported to the police that she experienced abuse during her visit to Milton’s residence in the 1970s.
David Milton provided wine to her and the other girls there, urging them to behave in a lively and excited manner and to engage in nude dancing. He engaged in various forms of sexual contact with her when they were alone, and he brought her into his bed while his wife was away doing night shifts at a vacation camp.
He informed her that the abuse was a manipulative tactic intended to dissuade her from disclosing it to others. The second female informed the police that she had visited David Milton’s residence on a single occasion. However, during this visit, David Milton brought her to his bed, where he placed his hand under her undergarments and enquired, “Do you find this pleasurable?”
Mr. Herc Ashworth, the defence attorney, stated that David Milton contested the allegation that he provided the girls with alcohol. According to him, David Milton had lived a morally faultless life except for a brief period in the 1970s. His current state of poor health will exacerbate the challenges of his prison sentence.
In the previous 2017 case, David Milton refuted any sexual interaction with two other girls but was convicted by a jury. One of the victims provided testimony indicating that she was of such a tender age and naivety when subjected to abuse that she only comprehended the gravity of the perpetrator’s conduct upon attending sex education classes at school.
David Milton committed all the charges while residing in an estate close to Newton Abbot during the 1970s and 1980s. The prosecution characterised him as possessing an unquenchable desire for young children and lacking any inhibitions whatsoever.
According to reports, he allegedly manipulated the victims’ minds and committed an act of physical aggression against one of the girls while in the role of a babysitter. He coerced the girls into maintaining the secrecy of his abuse by threatening that they would be placed in foster care if they disclosed his actions.
David Milton was sentenced to 16 years, with 15 years to be served in prison and an additional year on extended license.
