Later today, David Parsons, 28, a police constable from South Worcestershire Local Policing Area, is scheduled to appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court.

West Mercia Police said the charge relates to an off-duty incident, and the officer is suspended.

The force said, “Victims of sexual offences have lifetime anonymity, and it is an offence under the Sexual Offences Act to identify, whether directly or indirectly, the victim of a sexual offence.

“Due to ongoing court proceedings, we will not make any further comment about the case; however, we will do so when we can when court proceedings have concluded.”

Run by the independent charity Crimestoppers, West Mercia Police joined all other police forces in the United Kingdom earlier this year to launch the Police Anti-Corruption and Abuse Reporting Service.

The programme provides the public with an anonymous and private means of reporting issues regarding illegal activity by police personnel.

Reports can be generated by phoning 0800 085 0000 or online.
