A Cherry Willingham Paedophile, David Thorne, who admitted guilt to the rape of a kid under 13 will receive sentencing next month following a hearing.
David Thorne, residing in New Crescent, Cherry Willingham, had already entered a guilty plea to eight sexual offences, encompassing several charges of rape and sexual assault, prior to his appearance at Lincoln Crown Court on Friday, May 2.
The 22-year-old, David Thorne, earlier acknowledged that sexual contact occurred between himself and his young victim, but asserted that they had informed him they were 17 years old.
Nonetheless, his claim was rejected during a Newton Hearing—designed to ascertain truth amid conflicting evidence—and he was promptly remanded to detention.
The judge expressed “no hesitation” in adopting the victim’s narrative of events, and David Thorne is scheduled for sentencing in June.
The court was informed that David Thorne met with his young victim on several occasions, travelling from his residence to collect them from the Grantham region.
Detective Constable Victoria Oakes, who led the investigation, heaped praise on the victim for their bravery and courage.
Speaking at the conclusion of the hearing, DC Oakes said: “I am in awe of the victim involved in this case. They have been immense.
“The bravery and courage they have displayed over the last year has been truly incredible and I hope that this result offers some sense of closure.
“David Thorne’s actions are reprehensible and completely unacceptable in our society. His victim was clearly underage, and he knew that.
“Instead, David Thorne chose to plead ignorance and I am glad that the judge dismissed his claims and will sentence him for his crimes in due course.
“I hope this sends a strong message to any would-be perpetrator that we will investigate to the fullest and pursue all lines of enquiry to secure justice for victims in Lincolnshire.”
