David Tilley, a senior Faringdon Paedophile has received an eight-year prison sentence after being convicted of indecently molesting four young girls during the 1980s.
David Tilley, 77, faced trial at Oxford Crown Court earlier this year, charged with 11 counts of indecent assault against a girl under the age of 14 and two acts of gross indecency.
David Tilley perpetrated assaults against four young girls, now adults, whose identities are protected for legal reasons. The ages of the females during the offences varied from nine to fourteen.
David Tilley, of Faringdon, had denied the offences and described the allegations as a ‘load of rubbish’.
However, after a trial, David Tilley was found guilty on all counts except one count of indecent assault upon Judge Hassan Khan’s direction.
David Tilley was sentenced at the same court on Friday, September 20.
During the sentencing, it was heard that the offences took place across several addresses in the 1970s and early 1980s.
For one victim, David Tilley would touch her under and over clothing for several years. She described the actions as ‘deliberate’ on David Tilley’s part and the pattern continued from the age of 11 to 14.
Another victim said she woke up and found David Tilley in her room and touching her over her clothing. She pretended to be asleep.
However, when David Tilley tried to lower his hand she rolled over and said: “Go away, I’m sleeping.”
She told the court she heard him ‘sort of laugh’ as he left the room.
For another victim, David Tilley had removed her top and commented: “Oh look, you’re growing breast buds, how sweet.”
David Tilley had also assaulted one of his victims in his car.
Defending David Tilley, his barrister, told the court that he has some very ‘serious and debilitating’ illnesses for Judge Khan to take into account when sentencing.
She said, “It’s more than the usual failings of increasing years. He’s got a pervasive list of serious and debilitating issues.”
It was heard David Tilley suffers from Type 2 Diabetes and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). It was heard he may need a blood transfusion later down the line.
He attended court with a suitcase allegedly full of prescription medications.
David Tilley is of previous good character, apart from molesting children.
He was sentenced to five years imprisonment for the first victim, two years for the second victim, one year for the third victim, and a one-year concurrent sentence for the fourth victim.
David Tilley will serve two-thirds of his sentence in custody before being released on licence. Court orders will apply in his case.
