A rapist doctor, Ammar Abdulla Alrahow, who absconded from Scotland following his conviction for domestic abuse, has been expunged from the registry.

Dr. Ammar Abdulla Alrahow was initially registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) in 2008, serving as a locum physician in England and Ireland.

Ammar Abdulla Alrahow was then worked at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy from February 2010 until October 2023.

At the moment of his apprehension on September 26, 2021, he was serving as a Clinical Fellow in Urology at the hospital.

He was indicted for domestic abuse and released on bail under specific conditions. Dr. Ammar Abdulla Alrahow was subsequently charged with two counts of violating his release conditions.

On September 19, 2023, at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, he was convicted of domestic abuse and two violations of his bail conditions.

Ammar Abdulla Alrahow’s sentencing was deferred until October 16, 2023, and he surrendered his Irish passport as part of his bail conditions.

However, he travelled to Iraq using his Iraqi travel document and did not attend his sentencing hearing.

A warrant has since been issued for the doctor’s arrest.

The report published by the GMC read: “The Tribunal determined that Dr Ammar Abdulla Alrahow’s convictions and his subsequent actions in refusing to attending his sentencing hearing, his persistent lack of insight, the absence of evidence of any remorse or attempts at remediation were of such a serious nature that erasure was the only sanction to protect and promote the health safety and well being of the public; maintain public confidence in the medical profession and to uphold proper professional standards and conduct for members of the medical profession.”

In communication with the tribunal, Ammar Abdulla Alrahow stated that he had not accepted that he was found guilty of his convictions and that he “did not accept anything”.
