A doctor, Dr Carey Girling NHS Paedophile, accused of child abuse conducted examinations on children without a chaperone, even though health authorities were aware that he was prohibited from being alone with them.

Dr Carey Girling was prohibited from interacting with individuals under the age of 18 without the presence of a colleague, as the police were conducting an investigation into allegations that he had created inappropriate photos of youngsters, with some being autistic.

However, a tribunal determined that the locum doctor had the capability to independently conduct examinations of children multiple times during their tenure at Belford Hospital in Fort William.

Subsequently, he was found guilty of producing illicit images of minors.

NHS Highland stated that Carey Girling was accountable for ensuring strict adherence to the imposed requirements.

Dr. Carey Girling conducted examinations on young patients without a chaperone, despite being prohibited from having unsupervised contact with anybody under the age of 18.

The revelation of his non-compliance with the rules occurred when a nurse expressed worries about Carey Girling conducting unsupervised consultations with young children.

The Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) determined that Carey Girling violated the limits from March 20 to 27, 2022, while employed in the hospital’s emergency department.

Following Carey Girling’s arrest in November 2020, some limits were imposed on him. These constraints mandated that he maintain a comprehensive journal documenting his consultations and obtain the signature of a chaperone on this log.

Nevertheless, when requested to give proof of his adherence to the regulations, Carey Girling deceitfully asserted that other healthcare professionals had been present for the examination of seven youngsters.

Upon questioning the staff he mentioned, they categorically denied the accuracy of the information.

He also alleged parents and/or guardians had been there but the MPTS said it received no proof verifying this.

During the tribunal, it was revealed that a senior charge nurse at the hospital sent an email to the General Medical Council (GMC) stating that nobody in the Emergency Department was informed about the need for a chaperone or the completion of a log for the individual in question.

Carey Girling’s medical hearing follows his conviction at Cambridge Crown Court on June 23 of last year for producing indecent photos of youngsters.

Out of the images discovered in his possession, 28 were classified as belonging to the most severe category.

In January 2023, he initially entered a plea of not guilty before subsequently confessing his guilt in June.

He was mandated to participate in rehabilitation, complete 200 hours of community service, and officially register with the police.

Additionally, he is required to adhere to a sexual prevention order until August 3, 2028.

The MPTS has determined that the paedophile’s ability to practise is compromised due to his misconduct and criminal conviction. The determination of his sanction is still pending.

NHS Highland stated that Carey Girling was provided with explicit instructions to ensure adherence to the requirements and that it was his duty to comply with them.

A spokesperson stated that as soon as a concern was brought to the attention of the leadership team, prompt measures were taken to halt any additional temporary work assignments and inform the General Medical Council (GMC) that the individual had violated their criteria.

‘It is the action taken by NHS Highland that has resulted in this further tribunal being undertaken.’
