UPDATE 15.06.25
An anaesthetist who captured obscene photographs of himself assaulting an unconscious five-year-old girl in a hospital has had his appeal over the duration of his prison sentence rejected.
He allegedly captured inappropriate images of his wife while she was asleep, as well as of a three-year-old kid and an adult patient when they were anaesthetized under his supervision.
The Court of Appeal determined that Edward Finn, 37, perpetrated “one of the most egregious breaches of trust conceivable.”
Finn confessed to one charge of sexual assault against a kid under 13, three charges of producing indecent images of children, three charges of capturing indecent images of children, and two charges of voyeurism.
Following his guilty plea at Nottingham Crown Court, Finn was sentenced in June 2024 to eight years of imprisonment, accompanied by an extended licence of four years.

The Court of Appeal in London rejected his appeal against the sentence.
Mr. Justice Johnson, accompanied by Lord Justice Fraser and Judge Martin Picton, stated that Finn’s offences occurred between 2014 to 2023.
The judge stated that he was uncovered after his wife discovered photographs of nude youngsters on an old iPad, within a folder tagged “hidden.”
Subsequent examinations of all of Finn’s devices uncovered hundreds of obscene photographs of minors, comprising over a hundred in the most severe classification, as well as images of an adult and a child captured during his professional activities.
Finn, residing on Hollygate Lane in Cotgrave, informed authorities that he was experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder following the death of a girl he was treating.
The justices rejected the appeal.
Mr. Justice Johnson, rejecting the appeal, stated that the sentence was “not erroneous in principle or manifestly excessive” and remarked: “This constituted one of the most flagrant breaches of trust conceivable.”
