Mother and Partner plan to rape daughter

A mother and her partner from Cornwall have been imprisoned for conspiring to sexually assault her six-year-old daughter.

The duo, whose identities are withheld to safeguard the victim’s anonymity, were convicted and jailed at Plymouth Crown Court on Friday 30 August.

The woman, hailing from East Cornwall, received a prison sentence of 17 years, while the male, originating from North Cornwall, was sentenced to 13 years behind bars. Both individuals were issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for a duration of 20 years.

Police stumble across the incest plot

In 2021, the police initiated an investigation when the man entrusted his phone to an individual at a pub. During this time, the police came across alarming messages pertaining to the sexual exploitation of a little girl.

The officers confiscated the phone as evidence and apprehended both the man and woman.

During the inquiry, detectives discovered incriminating text messages detailing a sinister plot in which the lady intended to administer drugs to her six-year-old child, with the purpose of facilitating the man’s sexual assault on the child.

In addition, they discovered sexually graphic photographs of the child that the woman had captured and transmitted to him.

The woman was accused of five counts, to which she entered a plea of not guilty.

The charges at Truro Crown Court

During the trial at Truro Crown Court in May 2024, she was unanimously convicted by a jury and sentenced to 17 years in prison for the following crimes:

  • Conspiring to commit sexual assault against a child under the age of 13,
  • Conspiring to sexually penetrate a kid under the age of 13,
  • Administering a chemical with the intention of causing a state of mental dullness or confusion in order to facilitate sexual activity,
  • Disseminating explicit images of a minor,
  • Child pornography possession.

The individual admitted guilt for the offences of conspiring to commit sexual assault against a child under the age of 13 and possessing explicit photos involving a kid. He received a prison sentence of 13 years.

Detective Inspector Sara Ward

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Sara Ward said: “This is an extremely harrowing case, and we welcome the sentences handed down by the judge today.

“I would like to thank everyone who has supported the police investigation through what has been a very long and challenging investigation due to the nature of the crimes.

“My sincere thanks also go to the investigation team who have acted with the utmost professionalism and commitment in seeking to bring the offenders to justice for their depraved crimes.

“The young victim was betrayed by the person who should have been protecting her. All of our thoughts remain with the victim.”
