Educational institutions issued stranger danger alerts following reports of a boy being solicited to enter a vehicle in Birmingham. A nine-year-old was approached by a stranger (skin colour unknown?) on Finch Road in Lozells just after 9 AM on Wednesday, December 4.
The boy was reportedly instructed to enter the van but fled instead. The police have been informed of the occurrence and have initiated an investigation.
Some local schools dispatched letters to parents and guardians regarding the suspected attempted abduction, urging them to elucidate ‘stranger danger’ to students during their commutes to and from school.
West Midlands Police announced: “We are conducting an investigation into a report of an attempted abduction of a nine-year-old boy on Finch Road, Lozells.” The boy was reportedly contacted just after 9 AM on Wednesday, December 4, and solicited to enter a car.
“The boy ran off and the incident was reported to us. We realise incidents of this nature can cause concern in the community so we will have extra officers in the area today and over the coming days to offer reassurance as we continue to investigate.”
