An individual, Findlay Munro Edinburgh Sex Offender, with deviant sexual tendencies who worked as a driving instructor has been found guilty of sexually assaulting further teenagers during their driving lessons following a new inquiry.
Findlay Munro targeted vulnerable young women undergoing driving lessons in Edinburgh, engaging in physical contact and making indecent remarks.
Findlay Munro managed to avoid imprisonment last year by confessing to deliberately singling out four victims while instructing them.
The 63-year-old individual appeared at the city’s sheriff’s court on Wednesday and admitted to committing charges against four more students.
Two of the victims were only 17 years old when Findlay Munro, who exhibited disturbing behaviour, exploited the opportunity of being alone in a vehicle with them.
The court was informed of his sexual attack on the teenagers by the act of touching their legs.
In addition, Findlay Munro engaged in making inappropriate remarks towards two additional women during his instruction during their driving lessons.
Sheriff John Cook postponed the sentencing until the following month to await the completion of reports.
Findlay Munro attended court in September to receive his sentence after confessing to the four previous crimes.
He was assigned two years of supervision with a condition to engage in “offence-focused work”.
Additionally, he was placed on the sex offenders registry for two years.
However, during the court proceedings on Wednesday, it was revealed that more crimes from as early as 2014 had been discovered.
Findlay Munro confessed to non-consensually caressing the leg of a 17-year-old individual during instructional sessions from August 2014 to April 2015.
In addition, he admitted to sexually assaulting another 17-year-old by persistently caressing her leg without her consent during classes from September 2015 to March 2016.
Findlay Munro confessed to making indecent remarks and statements regarding the physical appearance of a third student to obtain sexual satisfaction from September 2015 to April 2016.
Furthermore, he confessed to an identical accusation against a fourth woman throughout the period from December 2019 to March 2020.
The court was informed last year that Findlay Munro, residing in the Baberton district of the city, systematically victimised four individuals before a police inquiry led to his appearance in court.
The transgressions above occurred from 2017 to 2021.
A mother previously recounted to the Record the sexual assault experienced by her 17-year-old daughter at the hands of the individual referred to as “scumbag” Findlay Munro. She financed her daughter’s weekly two-hour lessons from him while he was employed as an instructor at Red Driving School.
She reported that Findlay Munro referred to all his students as his ‘girlfriends’ after the initial lesson. I found it peculiar, but my daughter deemed it acceptable since she desired to succeed in her examination.
“In retrospect, she would experience significant anxiety before each lesson, but I attributed it to her nervousness.”
“I convinced her to document it, as she found it challenging.” The reading experience was dreadful. I was infuriated and personally contacted the police to file a report.
Findlay Munro admitted to committing sexual assault on the teenager multiple times on Edinburgh roads from December 2020 until August of the following year. The abuse involved stroking the victim’s head and rubbing her thigh.
