A Croy Paedophile, Fraser Murray, who systematically raped a youngster for four years has been sentenced to ten years in prison.

Fraser Murray, 33, was found guilty last month of counts including rape, sexual assault, and voyeurism.

Judge Lord Fairley was informed that Murray, from Croy in the Highlands, exploited his ten-year-old victim at various sites in his hometown and a settlement in the Black Isle. The offences occurred from October 2018 to October 2022.

Fraser Murray consistently perpetrated multiple severe sexual attacks on the young girl and recorded films of her as she was disrobing.

The court heard how one rape took place whilst she was asleep.

Fraser Murray was finally caught and brought to justice after police learned about his activities.

His arrest prompted him to plead guilty to charges last month.

Lord Fairley deferred sentence to obtain a report on his background, and he reappeared for sentence on Friday in Edinburgh.

Passing sentence, the judge told him that the high risk posed to children would mean he would be supervised for three years following his release from custody.

He added: “It has had a devastating effect on her. Those who offend in the way that you did can expect lengthy prison sentences.”

The judge also spoke of how he had considered the information provided to the court about Murray’s offending.

He added: “This includes the troubling suggestion made by you that the complainer initiated sexual contact with you.”

Lord Fairley placed Fraser Murrayon the Sex Offenders Register for life.

The judge also passed a non harassment order which prevents Fraser Murray from getting in touch with his victim.

He added: “This will be for an indefinite period.”
