A Paedophile from Swansea, Gareth Davies, has been incarcerated after being apprehended for exchanging sexual communications with a decoy account on social media, which he believed to be that of a 14-year-old girl.

Gareth Davies, a 58-year-old resident of the Maritime Quarter, participated in discussions from November to December 2024.

Subsequently, he endeavoured to arrange an in-person meeting with the “girl,” but in December, he was approached by the operators of the decoy account before to his arrest.

Although Gareth Davies pleaded not guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a minor in January, he was convicted in May. He has received an 18-month prison sentence.

Detective Sergeant Grant Phillips said:

“The comments made by Gareth Davies to the decoy were extremely concerning and it is incredibly fortunate that this was a decoy and not a real child.

“It is clear that he poses a continued risk to children. Therefore, the only suitable outcome was for him to go to prison.”
