A Weaverham Paedophile from Northwich, Gary Taylor, has evaded incarceration despite accumulating ‘appalling’ photographs of child sexual abuse.

Gary Taylor, residing on Rowan Road in Weaverham, was sentenced at Chester Magistrates Court on June 11 for four offences related to obscene images.

During a prior court hearing, the 62-year-old acknowledged holding 22 indecent photographs, comprising Category A – the most severe – as well as Category B and Category C images, depicting youngsters ranging from infancy to nine years of age.

The court was informed that police acquired intelligence last year indicating that Gary Taylor utilised a Kik social media account to upload photographs to his device between June 1, 2022, and August 2024.

They featured videos of young children, and he declined to react during the interview.

Considering his plea, magistrates imposed a 26-week prison sentence on Gary Taylor, which was suspended for 18 months.

The court determined that, given the gravity of the conduct and the ‘appalling’ nature of the photos, only a prison sentence was warranted.

However the bench felt it was able to suspend the term due to the defendant having a ‘realistic prospect of rehabilitation’.

Gary Taylor was ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work and up to 25 days of rehabilitation activity within 12 months.

He was also put on the sex offenders register for seven years and made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order for the same period.

As part of the order, Gary Taylor is banned from having unsupervised contact or communication with any child under the age of 16, except under specified circumstances.

Gary Taylor is also prohibited from using any device capable of accessing the internet unless he notifies police within three days of acquiring such a device.
