An East Kilbride Paedophile George Crawford has been placed on the sex offenders’ registry after being apprehended with approximately 20,000 child sexual assault images.

George Crawford may potentially confront incarceration upon his return to Hamilton Sheriff Court for sentencing next month.

George Crawford, 67, of Ash Places, confessed to possessing indecent pictures. The court was informed that these were downloaded between January 2018 and February of this year.

John Coogan, representing the prosecution, stated that law enforcement officials, equipped with a search warrant, arrived at his residence on February 6.

A number of devices were confiscated, revealing photographs of child sexual abuse on George Crawford’s laptop, a hard drive, three USB drives, and a computer tower.

Specialist police personnel identified 19,461 photos, of which 3,418 depicted the most severe forms of maltreatment.

Certain children in the photographs were estimated to be as young as two years old.

Ten video clips depicting the abuse of minors were also discovered.

George Crawford presented himself in court as a first-time offender.

Sheriff Scott Pattison postponed the sentencing pending background checks, a risk assessment, and an electronic tagging evaluation.
