A Banbury paedophile, George Dobrin, has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison for kissing a 14-year-old girl and removing her clothing.
George Dobrin was jailed at Oxford Crown Court on January 8 for two counts of engaging in sexual intercourse with a minor, whose identity is protected for legal reasons.
The court was informed that in February 2022, the 40-year-old had inserted his tongue into the lips of the teenage girl and, on another occasion, had removed her clothing.
George Dobrin, from Woodfield, Banbury, initially contested the charges but entered a guilty plea on the opening day of his trial on October 21 of the previous year.
He informed his barrister: “My conduct was entirely unacceptable.” She was a minor; that is just incorrect.
“I am uncertain about my thoughts at that moment; I cannot ascertain what was occupying my mind.” I am uncertain about my motivations at that time, given it occurred a considerable duration ago, leaving me with no recollection of the event.
Judge Nigel Daly sentenced the offender to 32 months in prison, stating: “You possess no prior convictions and experienced a challenging upbringing.”
“I consider your challenging background.”
During the sentencing, prosecutor Brian Reece elucidated that on February 16, George Dobrin placed his hands on the girl’s waist and buttocks.
“He engaged in oral contact with her and requested to touch her intimate areas,” stated Mr. Reece. He grasped her hand, attempted to place it on his genitals, and remarked that she was beautiful.
“She repelled him and directed a key towards his genitals.”
A subsequent occurrence occurred some days later when the defendant was apprehended removing the girl’s clothing.
Mr. Reece stated: “[He] removed her [clothing] and attempted to kiss her again, indicating his desire to touch her intimate areas, asserting that she was unaware of how pleasurable it would be.”
“She instructed him to depart.”
When apprehended by an adult, George Dobrin asserted that he was merely ‘smoking’ and conversing with the girl.
The court was informed that the defendant possesses no prior convictions.
The attorney for George Dobrin asserted that he is employed full-time in a manual labour position during night shifts and remits funds to his family in Romania.
Consequently, his custody request would financially affect his family.
He stated that the misconduct did not ‘increase’ as he had been apprehended.
George Dobrin was additionally subjected to a five-year restraining order prohibiting contact with the girl. He was subjected to a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order and lifelong notification obligations.
