Former postman, and Aberdeen Paedophile, Graeme Redwood utilised the online alias ‘Sergeant Gimp’ to seek extreme pornographic content. The Aberdeen paedophile has been incarcerated after confessing to violating a prohibition against accessing and viewing pornography internet.

In 2016, Graeme Redwood was indefinitely registered as a sex offender following his conviction for a comparable offence and violation of an order.

The 60-year-old former postman pleaded guilty to possessing a device capable of internet access and neglecting to notify the police about an online username, ‘Sergeant Gimp,’ discovered on his gadget.

Graeme Redwood was initially incarcerated in 2006 after confessing to the possession of thousands of indecent pictures.

The court was informed that Graeme Redwood utilised search engines to seek websites linked to child sexual assault by employing the keywords “schoolgirl,” “teen,” and expressions related to sexual violence.

Fiscal depute David Ballock stated that Redwood had been attending weekly meetings with his support worker, and on October 17 of the previous year, the worker reviewed Graeme Redwood’s correspondence.

Mr. Ballock stated, “An email dated October 13 had been accessed.” “This raised apprehension as he should not have had internet access since their prior appointment on 10 October.”

The support worker informed the police, who subsequently visited Graeme Redwood’s residence, listed in court as Ruthrieston Crescent, to conduct a search for internet-enabled devices.

Mr. Ballock stated, “His property was filled with numerous electronic devices and accessories.”

“A black Honor mobile phone was observed sitting on an object under the edge of his bed.

“Graeme Redwood stated – ‘I shouldn’t have that’.

“On being cautioned and arrested, he replied, ‘have it. I was using it to buy a lot of the stuff’.”

The phone was sent for a cybercrime investigation and multiple accounts in Graeme Redwood’s name were found on it.

“Extensive use of email and internet at all times of day and night was found,” Mr Ballock went on.

“Much of this related to online shopping.

“The web history revealed search terms synonymous with indecent images of children, such as ‘Rape school’, ‘schoolgirl’ and ‘teen’.

“Evidence was also found that since April 2024, the accused had been using the online username ‘Sergeant Gimp’ on various websites including live chat sites and a pornography site.”

Graeme Redwood pled guilty to breaching a Sexual Offences Prevention Order by having a device which could access the internet and having a username online which he had not told the police about.

Graeme Redwood’s defence agent Mike Monro said his client had not accessed any indecent images of children but had been looking at adult sites, adding: “I would have been standing in front of a different court if he had been.”

He told the court Graeme Redwood had previously worked as a postman for 13 years and had a “good work ethic”.

Sheriff Philip Mann said Graeme Redwood had searched for “extreme” pornographic material breaching the order placed upon him, saying: “The purpose of a Sex Offences Prevention Order is to stop you looking at material relating to children or extreme pornography.

“On this occasion, you did not access illicit material,” he said. “But illicit material or not, the risk is there nonetheless.

“That combined with your previous offences – only a custodial sentence is appropriate.”

Graeme Redwood was jailed for 12 months.
