A vicious Ayr Paedophile sexual predator, Hugh Brown, who consistently victimised two young girls has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Hugh Brown received his prison sentence on Wednesday, as a judge commended both victims for articulating their traumatic experiences.

The 54-year-old received a sentence at the High Court in Glasgow.

Hugh Brown had previously been found guilty of 13 crimes, with the assaults taking place in Ayr, South Ayrshire, between 1993 and 2004.

The repeated abuse encompassed the rape of one individual and the attempted rape of another.

Judge John McCormick mandated that Hugh Brown, from Prestwick, be subjected to supervision for an additional three years upon his release.

The crimes against the rape victim involved her being forcibly restrained on a bed and subjected to brutal assault.

She also observed the other girl being targeted.

Hugh Brown subsequently assaulted the second child while she was in a state of slumber.

Jurors were informed of his physical violence towards her, which encompassed striking her on the head and choking her.

Judge McCormick placed Hugh Brown on the sex offender registry and prohibited him from seeking or contacting the victims.

Both were for an unspecified duration.

He informed Hugh Brown that his actions were “devastating and transformative.”

The court stated: “They exhibited the courage to come forward and present their testimony, which the jury deemed credible and reliable through their unanimous verdicts.”
