Now 27, a Horndean paedophile teacher, Jack Dunn, who discreetly filmed children in school restrooms using a disguised iPhone avoids jail as parents say crimes left them “physically sick.”
After confessing to covertly photographing children in restrooms of a primary school for a week, a teaching assistant was spared jail and left the victims’ parents “physically disgusted”.
Before compiling a series of screenshots of his top 24 moments, 24-year- Jack Dunn recorded seven clips of children using his iPhone over the course of a week.
A child finding the device overhanging a cubicle and caught him off guard.
Parents of his victims have claimed they were “physically sick” by his activities; one mother worries he picked his career to have illegal access to minors.
Portsmouth Crown Court reports that the 24-year-old, Jack Dunn, was arrested in November 2019 filming children in toilets at Denmead Junior School in Hampshire.
One parent said, “I can’t put into words how physically sick that made and continues to make me,” adding, “My trust in the school has been absolutely shattered.”
Another mother said she became “instantly nauseous” upon learning her child had been a victim.
Jack Dunn chose his “highlights” from the videos he shot and snapped 24 screenshots of his chosen moments.
Parents worry that the images might have been posted on the dark web or somewhere else before Jack Dunn’s arrest.
One participant said, “These questions will plague my life permanently but I will most likely never know the answer.”
Judge David Melville QC said in sentencing: “The parents send these children to these schools believing that the environment is safe, and you violated that, which is very serious.”
The court heard how a teacher received the phone upon discovery, then it was passed to Elaine Viner, headmaster, who locked it away.
“Mr Jack Dunn was at the school behaving suspiciously the next day,” prosecutor Adrian Fleming said.
“Plainly he had gone to retrieve the phone; he was seen looking among a box where students had left their phones.”
“There was the grossest breach of trust; we suggest there was clearly a significant degree of planning; images were clearly recorded,” he said later.
Judge Melville sentenced a sex offender to twelve months, suspended for two years, with 200 hours of unpaid labour.
The court said he delayed Jack Dunn’s punishment due of his age and lack of past offences.
He also looked at how Covid-19 affected prisons as well as Dunn’s horrible history and home life—that which his mother detailed in a letter.
Given a five-year sexual harm prevention order, Jack Dunn, of Horndean, Hampshire, had to sign the sex offender registry.
Jack Dunn admitted to voyeurism and making category C pornographic images.
Defending, Damian Hayes claimed his client was “ashamed” and further said: “He’s sorry for what he did during that week in November 2019, and acutely sorry for the suffering he caused the children and parents at that school.”
Jack Dunn offered no justification for his behaviour.
