An Alderley Edge paedophile, Jack Watkin, who referred to himself as Cheshire’s own Kardashian, has pleaded guilty to fraud and theft.
Jack Watkin, 26, previously residing on Wilmslow Road, Alderley Edge, financed his aspirational Instagram influencer lifestyle by scamming businesses and individuals, amassing almost £200,000.
During the inquiry, officers discovered indecent photographs on his mobile phone, for which he had previously been convicted of possession of indecent images of children, extreme pornography, and illegal images.
The Crown Prosecution Service stated that the obscene photos of minors found on Jack Watkin’s mobile device included several from the most severe category, depicting the rape or sexual torture of young children.
Jack Watkin, featured in Channel 4’s Rich Kids Of Instagram documentary series, appeared at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday, June 24, where he pleaded guilty to eight counts of fraud by false representation.
He has been detained in custody and is scheduled to be sentenced for the fraud and indecent pictures offences on Wednesday, September 3, at Chester Crown Court.
The court was informed that Jack Watkin exploited the allure of the designer handbag brand Hermes as a deception to persuade individuals to provide him with the funds necessary to sustain his lavish lifestyle.
The coveted handbags are not available for retail purchase. Acquisition of a Hermes handbag necessitates an invitation, rendering it a profitable investment due to the potential for resale value far exceeding the initial cost.
Jack Watkin informed the victims that he possessed the connections necessary to provide them access to the handbags, and that they could share the earnings from resale.
They entrusted their funds in good faith; nevertheless, since no bag or evidence of returns from the investment opportunity materialised, they began to request reimbursement, yet he consistently provided reasons.
Jack Watkin deceived a woman into relinquishing thousands under the pretence of investing in a highly coveted expensive handbag, while she was, in reality, covering his expenses at the Dorchester Hotel in London.
She, along with the others, never obtained the handbags or their portion of the resale income.
