A serving Paedophile Somerset police officer, PC James Gullis, has admitted guilt to several offences, including the creation of indecent photos of minors. PC James Gullis, stationed in East Somerset, admitted responsibility to the charges uncovered during an investigation initiated following information provided by the National Crime Agency.
The 28-year-old is scheduled to be sentenced at Exeter Crown Court on Wednesday, March 19:
- Making indecent images of children – categories A, B and C
- Possession of prohibited images of children
- Possession of extreme pornography
He was arrested on 22 December 2023 and also suspended from duty that day, on full pay.
A separate investigation by our Professional Standards Department into potential breaches of professional standards is ongoing, parallel to the criminal process.
Assistant Chief Constable Joanne Hall said: “These offences are incredibly serious and a thorough investigation took place from the moment we became aware of them and he was also suspended from duty swiftly.
“Now he’s been convicted we will move quickly to conclude our own misconduct processes to make sure he’s never able to work in law enforcement again.
“I want to reiterate that the overwhelming majority of our officers and staff are dedicated to keeping people safe and to serving their communities. They are as shocked as anyone to learn of these offences.”

UPDATE 16.04.25
A former police officer, James Gullis, has been handed a suspended prison sentence after admitting to multiple offences, including making indecent images of children. Another travesty of Justice that shows if you are going to offend against children there is no better place to be than in the police if you get caught.
James Gullis, 28, pleaded guilty to the offences in February and was sentenced today (16 April) to 10 months in prison suspended for two years. He was also handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
At a completely pointless separate misconduct hearing on 18 March, which followed an investigation by our Professional Standards Department (The Police), James Gullis was barred from policing and would have been dismissed had he not already resigned after gross misconduct was found proven.
