Subsequent to an unannounced inspection by our officers, a registered Teesside paedophile sex offender, James Milton, was discovered to have violated a protection order by removing Snapchat and Dropbox applications. He also neglected to register the identities he employed online.

On 17 May 2024, investigators from our Paedophile Online Investigation Team (POLIT) visited James Milton, 32, to ensure compliance with his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

The SHPO was implemented following his conviction for multiple charges, including those associated with obscene photographs of children.

During the visit, James Milton was requested to surrender all devices capable of internet connection and all gadgets capable of storing digital photos for examination by officers.

Officers discovered several aliases and usernames unregistered with the police, and a further search of his residence led to the discovery of two more SD cards.

An additional investigation was conducted on his devices, and although no inappropriate photographs were discovered, it was noted that he had removed several applications, including Snapchat, Discord, and Dropbox.

James Milton was apprehended and subsequently indicted for violating his Sexual Harm Prevention Order and for noncompliance with Notification Requirements.

James Milton attended Teesside Magistrates’ Court on Friday, April 4th, where he admitted admission to all charges.

On 6th May, James Milton appeared at the same court where he was sentenced 48 months in prison.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Barnes from the Paedophile Online Investigation Team (POLIT) said: “Breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order is an extremely serious offence.

“Our officers work tirelessly to closely monitor those subject to restrictions and so that any breaches like this are detected and dealt with swiftly. I hope this serves as a warning to offenders LIKE James Milton that we will take action.”
