Jamie Bicknell sex offender

A repugnant Gosport sexual offender, Jamie Bicknell, who seized a woman’s throat and groin on a Gosport street while obstructing her passage has been incarcerated.

Intoxicated Jamie Bicknell instilled fear and a sense of violation in the woman by seizing her throat and hair before inappropriately touching her between the legs, as shown in Portsmouth Crown Court. The incident occurred on February 2, 2021, when the 32-year-old declined to leave the woman alone on Stoke Road.

Jamie Bicknell was requested to vacate a nearby restaurant at approximately 9:50 PM due to his intoxicated conduct following a food order. He thereafter approached a woman outdoors and commenced making obscene remarks while soliciting her for sexual intercourse.

The court was informed that the woman attempted to bypass Jamie Bicknell, who then seized her by the throat and persisted in conversing with her. He thereafter seized her hair before engaging in sexual contact with her groin area. You persisted in your actions and were determined to commit sexual abuse. Judge Timothy Mousley KC stated that she was scared. She had her hair styled in a bun, which you grasped before making contact with her crotch area. Your hand lingered for some seconds before she successfully extricated herself.

CCTV evidence indicated that Jamie Bicknell had taken a bus from his residence on Gregson Avenue prior to proceeding on foot to Stoke Road. He engaged in a dialogue with the bus driver during his travel, disclosing his initial name and discussing mutual acquaintances, data that enabled the authorities to identify and locate him.

The court was informed that the woman’s life deteriorated after the assault, transforming her from an extroverted and vivacious individual to one who is perpetually fearful and now requires medicine for anxiety management. He encroached onto my personal space. It was utterly nasty. She expressed in a statement presented to the court that she felt violated.

Jamie Bicknell was convicted of sexual assault by jury after a retrial.

The court was informed that Jamie Bicknell, diagnosed with bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder, perpetrated the offence during a tumultuous phase with his girlfriend, resulting in his resorting to alcohol and seeking conflict while socialising.

Jamie Bicknell received a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence, along with an indefinite restraining order and mandatory sex offender registration requirements.

Police staff investigator Sophie Close stated: Reporting sexual assaults requires significant fortitude, and the victim, in this instance, has demonstrated remarkable bravery by coming forward and collaborating with law enforcement to ensure Bicknell is held accountable.
