A callous Benfleet rapist Jamie Forbes has been sentenced to ten years in prison for sexually assaulting a teenage girl after intoxicating her with booze and drugs.
Jamie Forbes, aged 52, assaulted the girl in June 2020.
The widower, Jamie Forbes, from Manor Road, Benfleet, assaulted the girl after intoxicating her with booze and weed, and allegedly offered her cocaine, which she declined, as shown in court.
He was sentenced to ten years in prison yesterday at Basildon Crown Court.
Peter Clark, prosecuting, stated that he commenced by making sexually suggestive statements, enquiring whether she had engaged in sexual relations with older men.
She unequivocally indicated her lack of consent; yet, he persisted, asserting that she desired it.
During police interrogations, Jamie Forbes refuted the allegation, stating that the victim had approached him instead.
Jamie Forbes, who was married for 30 years prior to his wife’s death in late 2018, persists in denying the offence, despite having been convicted by a jury earlier this year.
Jamie Forbes categorically refutes the presence of cocaine, and a police investigation of his residence subsequent to the incident yielded no evidence of the Class A substance.
During his sentencing remarks, Recorder Leslie Cuthbert characterised Jamie Forbes as a remorseless rapist, stating: You present a significant danger of perpetrating more sexual offences, not just against the victim but also against other young women.
Recorder Cuthbert stated that you perceived her as a facile target for your sexual impulses. You bragged about the quantity of ladies you purportedly engaged with sexually before enquiring of the victim regarding the number of boys they had been involved with and their ages.
You chose to satisfy your sexual desires without regard for her consent and in defiance of her persistent objections.
He stated: Even today, in the pre-sentence report, you continue to deny your actions and instead imply that your conviction is a form of entrapment.
You have exhibited no contrition for your conduct, except for the consequences they have inflicted upon yourself.
Jamie Forbes received a ten-year prison term and an additional two-year extended licence period for the rape of a lady aged 16 or older at Basildon Crown Court yesterday.
Jamie Forbes must complete two-thirds of the custodial sentence in jail prior to becoming eligible for release.
