An Edinburgh Paedophile, Jamie Wilson, who committed acts of sexual, physical, and psychological abuse against a schoolgirl and three women has been sentenced to a term of imprisonment lasting nine and a half years.
Jamie Wilson targeted women and a 14-year-old girl in a series of crimes committed against victims in Edinburgh and Midlothian.
The High Court in Edinburgh heard that Jamie Wilson, a resident of Edinburgh, commenced his criminal activities in November 2015 and persisted in them until July 2022.
Despite denying a range of allegations during a previous trial, the 34-year-old individual was ultimately found guilty of nine offences, including sexual and physical assault, rape, threatening or abusive behaviour, and breaking bail conditions.
According to the court proceedings, Jamie Wilson forcibly engaged in sexual intercourse with a woman in July 2022 at a residence in Edinburgh by restraining her.
Jamie Wilson committed sexual assault against a 14-year-old at a different location within the city in November 2015. He initially raped her while she was asleep and then continued his attack after she woke up.
In 2017, Jamie Wilson perpetrated a life-threatening assault on a woman at a residence in Newtongrange, located in the Midlothian region. During the attack, he forcefully seized her by the throat, pinned her against a wall, and impeded her ability to breathe. In addition, Jamie Wilson consistently struck her in the face and forcefully propelled her to the ground.
In 2022, Jamie Wilson perpetrated another act of violence against a woman’s life at a residence in Edinburgh. He physically assaulted her by punching and choking her, forcefully forcing her between a window and a wall.
The court informed the sex offender that the jury found him guilty of “a continuous pattern of violent and sexual misconduct against vulnerable women.”
Judge Michael O’Grady KC stated that the individual’s actions have demonstrated complete disregard and disrespect towards both the victims and women as a whole.
The judge characterised the individual as both a bully and a coward, emphasising their complete lack of understanding, absence of regret, and absence of emotional response.
He issued non-harassment orders that forbid Jamie Wilson from contacting or attempting to contact the victims indefinitely.
In addition, the judge mandated that Jamie Wilson be supervised for an additional five years, during which he would be on licence in the community. However, if he violates the conditions of his release, he can be sent back to jail.
According to defence attorney Michael Meehan KC, Wilson had prior convictions for acts of violence. However, Meehan noted that Jamie Wilson is still considered “relatively young”, and there is some potential for his rehabilitation.
