A convicted paedophile, Jason Batty, apprehended for utilising social media and erasing correspondence, has experienced an incident in prison, postponing his sentencing.
Jason Batty, residing at Chelsea Place, Cholsey, was scheduled for sentencing at Oxford Crown Court on Thursday, March 13, for four violations of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
The ruling was issued by the same court on February 23 of the previous year when the 36-year-old was convicted for soliciting indecent images from someone he believed to be a little kid.
On February 12, 2022, he was apprehended for communicating with a someone he believed to be a minor named ‘Ethan,’ under the age of 16, soliciting obscene images and posing inappropriate sexual enquiries.
Several months later, Batty was apprehended for violating the SHPO between August and November of the previous year.
Jason Batty acknowledged deleting messages exchanged with a third party across multiple social media platforms, creating a Snapchat account, and utilising DuckDuckGo, a privacy-focused search engine.
Following his guilty plea, Jason Batty was scheduled for sentencing on Thursday; however, he was unable to attend court due to an injury that rendered him bedridden.
Defence barrister George Joseph stated that his client is now wheelchair-bound and could not be brought to court due to the absence of a lift from the cells to the courtroom.
Jason Batty is scheduled to be sentenced on March 20 through a video link.
